The Mazzei family`s links to Chianti date back to the 11th Century. Today, their Fonterutoli Estate is seen as a pinnacle of quality, producing classic wines of style and elegance. The property is located 5km south of Castellina, in the heart of the Chianti Classico. This 2020 is a blend dominated by 90% Sangiovese, with the remaining 10% being a mixture of Malvasia Nera and Colorino, grown on limestone soils. It aged for 12 months in french oak barrels. The colour is bright ruby, with deep, fragrant red berry aromas interweaving with notes of dried rose petals and sweet spice. This is a full bodied, intensely flavoured, luscious mouthful, with bright acidity and fine, powdery tannins bringing balance and freshness. The finish is elegant and long (for drinking 2022-2028+).
