2020 Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru Les Chevrières, Domaine Dominique Cornin

Pouilly-Fuissé`s long-awaited Premier Cru classification came into effect with the 2020 vintage. “Les Chevrières” was one of the promoted vineyards, being a prime site at the top of the hill overlooking the village of Chaintré. Here, thin clay top-soil gives way to hard limestone bed-rock. Cornin`s wine fermented and matured for 24 months 50% in stainless steel tanks, 50% in 600 litre oak demi-muids – this combination gives a 2020 wine that has intense perfume, elegant, sumptuous texture and vital freshness. Aromas recall white peach and lemon with a hint of flintiness, palate being complex, focussed and richly flavoured. This is a full-bodied, intricately-structured wine that has precision and finesse (for drinking 2023-2026+).
