Schloss Gobelsburg is one of the oldest wineries in Austria, having been established by Cistercian monks in the 11 hundreds. All their vineyards are located on the slopes and terraces around the valley of the river Kamp, near the village of Gobelsburg. Owner Michael Moosbrugger labels his classics from the estate under the Schlosskellerei Gobelsburg banner – this silky, supple Grüner Veltliner being a transparent expression of the variety from the region`s sandy, loess (Löss) hills. Pale lemon-gold colour, lively aromas recall pink grapefruit and celery seed. Palate is light but succulent, having attractive, intense, spiced citrus character, fine texture and an elegant, fresh finish.
