Giuseppe Caviola started making wine in his parents’ garage in the 1980s, after taking on a vineyard in Montelupo Albese – then an unfashionable area of the Langhe. He went on to establish his own estate in this village in 1991, after years of training and practice as a viticulturalist and oenologist. He is now one of the most well respected winemakers in Piedmont, consulting for many of the region’s top estates. Using organic farming (not certified), wild yeasts, and no filtering, he produces beautifully silky, elegant and pure wines. It was the great Elio Altare who first tasted Beppe’s wine and encouraged him to bottle it – now we are reaping the rewards of this encouragement!
