Charles Heidsieck is one of the great names of Champagne, having been founded in 1851 by Charles-Camille Heidsieck – the original ’Champagne Charlie’. Their Blanc des Millénaires is the House`s masterpiece, with only six vintages of this rare cuvée have been produced previously (1983,1985,1990,1995, 2004 and 2006). Made 100% from outstanding plots of Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs (Cramant, Avize, Oger, Le Mesnil-Sur-Oger and Vertus), this is an elegant and distinctive Blanc de Blancs. This 2007 showcases the racy acidity and chalky minerality of the Côte des Blancs.
Pale gold colour with glints of light green, the nose displays fresh citrus notes along with quince, delicate smoke and buttery caramel hints. On the palate, the identity of the vintage is evident with a sharp and classy acidity. An enveloping texture is then revealed with accents of lemon patisserie and subtle saline notes. The generosity of this cuvée is prominent and will continue to develop with ageing.
