This is a lively new discovery from the Lieubeau family, whose 70 hectare domaine lies in Muscadet country, in the western section of the Loire Valley. Vignes Blanches is a blend of Melon de Bourgogne (the classic, zippy, Muscadet grape) plus Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, contributing fragrance and texture. Pale lemon-green in the glass, aromas are intense and pure, recalling fresh lime and peach. Palate is dry, clean and light, with a good middle of green melon fruit and a crisp, refreshing finish.
